Saint of the Month: St. Francis of Assisi
In October, we celebrate St. Francis of Assisi, one of the most beloved saints in the Church. Born into wealth, Francis gave up everything to follow Christ in simplicity and joy. He saw all of creation as a reflection of God’s beauty and cared deeply for the poor and forgotten. St. Francis reminds us that holiness comes through living simply, loving generously, and putting God first. His life continues to inspire people everywhere to care for creation, serve those in need, and live with joy in the Gospel.
Family Prayer for October
Good and gracious God,
You gave us St. Francis as an example of joy and simplicity.
Help our family to live with thankful hearts,
to care for Your creation,
and to serve others with love.
May we always remember that You are with us in every part of life.
Amen.

St. Francis loved animals because he saw them as part of God’s creation. This month, take time as a family to celebrate creation. You might:
As you do, remember St. Francis’ example of seeing all living things as gifts from God.
October Reflection
St. Francis didn’t start out as a saint—he loved parties and fine clothes when he was young! But one day he realized God was calling him to live differently. Francis gave up everything and chose a simple life, full of prayer, kindness, and care for animals and people. He loved nature because it reminded him of God’s goodness. St. Francis shows us that when we choose love over selfishness, we can bring peace and joy to the world.
St. Francis, help us to love God’s creation and care for others with joy!
